Truly one for the books: We started the day with a walk to check out the nearby pools and get coffee. A local turned us on to Press Coffee and it was delish. I got some cinnamon honey espresso drink and Hannah got a PB espresso drink with ~16g of protein in it (she couldn't not finish the entire thing). After that, we returned to the REMI to check out the rooftop pool, which had a very entertaining cast of characters to people watch. It very quickly got too hot so it was time for brunch. We took a Waymo (Josh & Hannah's first time!) to The Eleanor. There was a wait so we found some delicious treats at Local Donut: The award winning Blueberry Old Fashioned, Cinnamon Crumb, Buttermilk Corn Bread, and Cinnamon Croissant Donut Holes (faves were Cinnamon Croissant, Blueberry Old Fashioned, Cinnamon Crumb, & Buttermilk Corn Bread). And then we chased that with the best breakfast sandwich that I think I've ever had. Which lead me to the. best. nap. ever. (As long as you had ear plugs, the REMI was not joking around about being a party hotel). Then it was show time! It was 101 when we arrived. Got our VIP merch (after a "5 minute walk" from being dropped off at the wrong gate thanks to an incorrect VIP email), then scored 32 oz margaritas & strawberry daiquiris to cool off, and topped it off with chicken tendies, fries, and a pepperoni pizza. Then we made our way to our FANTASTIC SEATS. The DJ & hype man played until 7:50, when Sej opened. Akon & Ne-Yo came on shortly after and alternated sets. The Les Twins made a cameo. Akon & Ne-Yo played a writer/producer game, showing off their diverse and expansive music catalogs. They each one upped each other with Beyonce and finished with Lady Gaga. Perhaps the most impressive part of the night was the acrobatic strippers! Stripper poles dropped from the ceiling, suspended by chains and these woman worked those poles. They were probably 30 feet off the ground, holding themselves up with just their hands or in some cases, by the splits. There were fireworks... there was actual fire... there was a string section.... there was a brass section.... there was a wind section... there were screens everywhere with storyboards. I'd never seen a show with this kind of production value. I'd also never seen a saxophonist air hump his saxophone, but now I have. AND THEN... as Lonely started playing, we noticed 4 men carrying a litter in our aisle. Akon walked our way and jumped on. He was greeting his adoring public and was going to come RIGHT BY US. Except, he turned at the very last moment to greet the other side of the aisle, leaving Josh sadly untouched. They played for 3 straight hours and it was a party the entire time. Oh, what a night!”

Got us in the mood by blasting some Akon on way over. Amazing seats. Maybe 10 rows back? Check out how close we go to Akon in the videos. Super cool how Neyo / Akon did the performance. Alternating back and forth. All-time memory: the songwriting “battle.” Two legends. Remi hotel was fancy and swanky. Downtown Scottsdale was poppin’. Great way to celebrate Hannah’s birthday.”
