The band consists of Karly Hartzman, MJ Lenderman, Xandy Chelmis, Alan Miller (drums), and Ethan Baechtold (bass). The band's style has been described as a mixture of shoegaze, noise rock and alternative country, while their lyrical content has been praised for its storytelling about life in the American south.
